  • How long will my epoxy flooring installation take?

The time it takes to install epoxy flooring in Idaho Falls, ID depends on the size of the area and the complexity of the job. For example, a job that's less than 4,000 square feet may take us three to four days, while larger jobs can take weeks or months.

  • What kind of preparation is required before my epoxy flooring is installed?

Before installing epoxy flooring in Idaho Falls, ID, the surface should be prepared to ensure a strong bond and a smooth finish. This may include sweeping dust, mopping with warm water and a gentle cleanser, and repairing cracks, pits, and gouges.

  • How many epoxy coats are needed?

Epoxy flooring in Idaho Falls, ID typically requires multiple coats. The first coat we apply is an epoxy primer, followed by a metallic epoxy coating, and then a clear coat on top. We may also add a fourth coat of polyurethane.

  • What is the difference between epoxy and polyurethane and do I need both?

It is very critical that you have both epoxy and polyurethane down on your floor. Epoxy is what permanently bonds the system to the concrete. Epoxy alone as the finish coat can yellow and chalk when exposed to UV light. In our experience, epoxy has an inferior stain and abrasion resistance when compared to a polyurethane coating.

For your garage floor coating in Idaho Falls, ID and other coated flooring, the use of polyurethane on top of your epoxy provides that showroom look you always wanted. Polyurethane provides you with a nice high gloss shine, no fading, no oxidizing, no chalking, and very easy clean up.

  • What are the benefits of epoxy flooring?

It’s easy to clean, simply sweep and mop, and no sanding or polishing is required. Here at Flooring Install Services, our clients just need to reapply a topcoat every five to seven years. According to Bob Vila, epoxy flooring typically lasts between 10 and 20 years if it’s properly maintained. It’s also moisture and stain-resistant, so if you spill a harsh chemical such as oil, it won’t stain and won’t seep through. Although the finish is high-gloss, epoxy is slip-resistant. Epoxy can be personalized with a variety of colors, patterns, and swirls, which can increase the property value of your home, in our experience, or make your business stand out.
